About Us

Who is Acappella Road?

Acappella Road is a men's chorus that specializes in singing a cappella four-part harmony. The diverse repertoire of songs performed by the chorus ranges from contemporary and classic to modern and popular. We are Calgary's premier a cappella men's chorus and have performed and competed across Canada and the United States. We are a chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, but our music is so much more than traditional barbershop!

Our vision: Create memorable, breath-taking moments singing in harmony.

Our mission:

Strive for musical artistry - as individuals, quartets and the ensemble
Provide fun musical experiences at rehearsals and performances
Be an environment for social connection and camaraderie
Engage the community through partnerships and service
  Maintain financial stability

Acappella Road was founded 1986 as Western Hospitality Singers, originally focusing on music that embodied the cowboy culture in Calgary, Alberta. In 2019, we re-branded as Acappella Road, celebrating our a cappella music style. Click here to learn more about our chorus' journey throughout the years.

We rehearse weekly on Mondays at 7:00 PM at McDougall United Church (8516 Athabasca Street SE) and welcome interested tenor and bass singers to drop in at any time to see what we do and even sing a note or two with us. You don't have to read music or have vocal training. You just need to be willing to dip your toe in the water and try us out. We focus on 'Excellence in Performance', 'Camaraderie', and 'Community Outreach' and are active supporters of Calgary charities. We also believe that singing should be fun and rewarding for us and for our audiences.

Our chapter is proud to support Rhythm of the Rockies, our sister chorus and Calgary's premier women's a cappella group. Check out their website for more information!

We are always learning exciting new repertoire to perform at events all across the Calgary area. Join us - no singing experience necessary! Contact us anytime by using the Contact button, or phone Doug at 403-651-8513.
