1. Breath is more important than music
a. Sing each phrase to the breath
b. Breath sets mood for the next phrase
2. Embellishments are the hallmark of the style
a. Each chord is more important than the previous one
b. Take full advantage of all opportunities
c. Moving parts are louder than holding parts;holding parts grow to meet moving
3. Melodic shape helps the listener understand the story or the emotion
a. Softer for intensity; Louder for urgency
b. Exaggerate the differences
4. Form & Mileposts should be used to determine song segments
a. Identify transitions in the song
b. Mileposts must get more interesting
c. Change in theme must have a "payoff" for the listener
5. No "soft" singing
a. Find your smallest "loud" voice
b. Use the same forward resonance all the time
6. Take individual responsibility for all of the above.
